Spanish Conversation and Culture (Intermediate to Advanced)

Conducted entirely in Spanish, this fun course give students the opportunity to put to practice the Spanish language skills they've previously acquired. Students touch on the various cultural, geographical, historical, and political aspects of the Spanish speaking world through discussions, group activities, light projects, and mini field trips to the local Hispanic community.

Upon completion of the Spanish Conversation and Culture course, the student will:

  • Improve Spanish conversational skills
  • Have a broader understanding of cultural, geographical, historical and political aspects of the Spanish speaking world
  • Bolster understanding, through group discussions and activities, of Spanish grammar concepts learned at prior levels.
  • Become familiar with Advanced Spanish concepts

 

Prerequisites

Admission to the Spanish Conversational and Culture course requires demonstration of proficiency of beginning and intermediate concepts Student must have successfully completed the Transcultural Promotions Languages level 1 and 2 courses, or must demonstrate proficiency in beginning and intermediate concepts.

Transportation. Student should have transportation to local areas where class will meet for occasional field trips.

  • Explore traditions and lifestyles of the local Hispanic community.
  • Watch film clips of Spanish language movies, news, and television programs
  • Listen to audio of popular Hispanic music and genres

21 hour course meets twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 am to 12 pm, June 28th to July 24th . No class on Monday, July 3rd.

14 hour course meets Mondays, from 630 to 830 pm, June 19th to August 7. No class on Monday, July 3rd.
